on the setBill Simmon is an award-winning filmmaker with more than 15 years of experience in all aspects of the production and post production processes. He has worked professionally as a director of photography, an editor, a producer and a director of corporate, industrial and commercial videos. His particular expertise is in cinematography and editing, but he is also proficient in the grip/electric and sound departments.

Bill is also an accomplished independent filmmaker with several awards to show for his work. Examples of his personal films can be seen at Candleblog or on the Candleboy MySpace Film page.

Bill has worked as a DP for many professional clients, including: Ben & Jerry’s, Seventh Generation, Eating Well Magazine, IBM, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Dean for America, Kingdom County Productions and Propeller Media Works. He has edited pieces for the VT Dept. of Corrections, Hingtgen for Lt. Governor, It’s a Fine Mess Productions and many other clients.

Bill can produce projects from soup to nuts, utilizing his extensive knowledge of and access to Vermont-based talent, locations and equipment. He has produced or co-produced pieces for clients such as: Middlebury College, Spectrum Youth & Family Services, The Vermont Episcopal Diocese, Untold Stories of the ER (TLC show) and the Vermont Dept. of Health.

Bill is also an experienced television technical director with more than ten years of live television production under his belt.

Recently…

In October 2007, Bill’s film, Digital Pamphleteer, won the James Goldstone Award at the Vermont International Film Festival. The Goldstone Award is presented annually at the festival by the Vermont Film Commission to recognize “an emerging Vermont filmmaker.”

Digital Pamphleteer has been invited to the Green Mountain Film Festival in March of 2008.

Also in 2008, Bill is in mid production on a feature documentary about the legendary Burlington, Vermont rock band, The Pants.
